The City of Springdale Parks and Recreation Department came to Ribbons of Red in need of a total website redesign. The website they had been using was extremely out of date—10+ years old to be exact! The park was more than ready for a new website that would help them market differently and allow them to connect with their audience on a more personal and targeted level.
An earthy, but vibrant color pallet was chosen for the website redesign, and a deep wood background was incorporated to give the park website a subtle outdoorsy feel. The main text lies on top of a piece of parchment paper, which was inspired by the field journals naturalists, birdwatchers, and hikers often carry. As a finishing touch, buttons containing popular park images were placed throughout the homepage.
The Parks and Recreation Department is very event driven, and the entire website needed to reflect that. When a user enters the homepage, they can immediately see what's going on in the park for the next several weeks. A user can browse upcoming events, popular park topics, weather conditions, fun facts, park locations, and even partake in a monthly poll. A wonderful rotating slideshow (currently where the Blue Jay resides) fades in and out showcasing snapshots of fun times being had at the Springdale Parks! We also included a custom WordPress blog to fulfill the park's goal of connecting directly with their market.
