Day Frog is a children's recreation center located in the heart of downtown Chicago. Rick Miller, Day Frog founder, came to Ribbons of Red with a vision. Rick knew right away that he wanted his logo to incorporate a purple frog. He thought a frog with an unconventional color would not only be eye-catching but also memorable—and we totally agreed!
Because Day Frog was designed exclusively for children and toddlers aged 6 and under, the logo needed to be very basic and easy for young children to understand. We wanted the frog to be fun and playful, so we gave him some big googley eyes, sat him comfortably on a cushy lily pad, and placed a warm, halftone sun behind him. Freddie The Frog (as the character was playfully dubbed) was born! He became an instant hit with the kids and was made into t-shirts, stickers, temporary tattoos, and even a Crocs' charm! He can also be seen playfully peaking in from the sides of Day Frog brochures, ads, and other marketing pieces.
